The Challenge: To put the Visit London team through their paces and see just how well they know their city!
Following a morning event hosted by Actors In Industry Ltd at the London Transport Museum, the 70 strong Visit London team was in high spirits and raring to go for their afternoon Competitive Sightseeing Challenge in Covent Garden.
Given their local knowledge and expertise, we added extra clues and made the challenges just a little bit more cryptic – well, we couldn’t let them off too easily could we?
Clue solving completed, we first scored the team photos on the giant screen. Our particular favourites – a lovely depiction of Billy Elliot for the ‘Re-enact a West End Musical’ challenge and an inspirational depiction of High Barnet for the ‘Tube Station’ challenge.
Continuing on with the quiz, the tension built steadily as teams were tested with questions based on the clues they’d solved earlier. The air was filled with the sound of cheers (and groans of despair!) as teams charted their progress on the scoreboard. As the final scores came in, it really was a case of fastest finger first, as Team Thirteen (not so unlucky!), pipped Team Two for first place. It was a close run thing, with just 1.2 seconds average speed on the button between them.
We are pleased to report that the teams scored very well across the board. London – you are in safe hands!
"Live the City organised their “Competitive Sightseeing” experience for over 70 Visit London staff in 14 different groups in July 2010. The Visit London team found the experience great fun and very rewarding. We have a lot of London experts in our company, but Live the City still managed to show us many new facts about our great city. Melody and Robin were a pleasure to work with and needed very little input from us in getting the afternoon just right, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to other companies looking to hold a dynamic team-building session." - Sally Chatterjee, Director of Visit London
